Johnson City, NY—Goodwill Theatre, Inc., which currently operates the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage in Johnson City, has been working to revitalize the Village of Johnson City for twenty years. The organization commissioned four historic art panels to adorn the garage doors of the firehouse building which will be unveiled at a press event on Friday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m.

Project Beacon is supported by the Broome County Small Community Grants Fund, and consists of second and third floor interior window lighting, and first floor Willow Street spotlights, as well as four historic art panels that will be installed on the former garage doors facing Willow Street.  The project aims to significantly animate the building both day and night. The art panels illustrate the past, present, and future of this important legacy building. The panels were designed by local artist Gene Czebiniak and installed by Matzo Signs.

“We are so grateful to Broome County for their support of Project Beacon, and to the many community leaders and local government officials who have helped us to secure grant funding and raise required matching funds,” said Goodwill Theatre CEO Naima Kradjian. “We thank everyone who donated to our project, and we thank our Board of Directors for their faith. This project will significantly improve the vitality of the building and the surrounding Central Business District in the Village.”
