Johnson City, NY—Goodwill Theatre, Inc., which currently operates the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage in Johnson City, has been working for twenty years to secure and stabilize the historic 1920 Goodwill Theatre building envelope. They will celebrate their success with a press conference on Friday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m.

Over the past twenty years, Goodwill Theatre has fully secured the building envelope, including repointing the brick walls, replacing the roof, windows, and doors, in addition to completing environmental remediation. The first phase of restoration is now complete.

LeChase Construction completed the $700,000 work scope in late December, which was mostly financed by a $500,000 grant from NYSOPRHP (New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation). Completed work includes replacement of the doors and windows, particularly the beautiful front Palladian windows and the decorative balustrade. Grant administration was recently completed in early February. M&T Bank provided the Construction Loan.

“We are so grateful to M&T Bank for their continued faith in this project, and to the many community leaders and local government officials who have helped us to secure grant funding and obtain required matching funds,” said Goodwill Theatre CEO Naima Kradjian. “We thank everyone who donated to our project, and we thank our Board of Directors for their faith. This work significantly improves the entrance to the Central Business District in the Village and sends a message of revitalization.”
